Scattered People - 2002

The Scattered People web site was based on twelve themes covering the journey of refugee claimants from their home country to Australia, and through the process and experience of waiting for their cases to be heard.

It was built on work done during the development of an award-winning CD featuring a choir of asylum seekers.

The web site project commenced in mid 2000, and was developed through a partnership between Lifeline Brisbane, the Refugee Claimants Support Centre, and Brisbane City Council.

The refugee claimants who contributed their stories: Omid-Arezo, Aaron, Rio Domio, Rodrigo, Kitende, Ramona and Brenda

The Scattered People Reference Committee: Gaby Heuft, Co ordinator of the Refugee Claimants Support Centre, Kerrie Woodrow, the web site oral history collector, spanish translator, and refugee claimants' facilitator, Brian Procopis, Senior Community Development Worker, Lifeline Brisbane, Jacinta Finger and Margy Chatburn, Public Relations, Lifeline Brisbane, Susan Ferguson, Brisbane City Council Community Development Team Leader Metropolitan, former Community Development Officer East, and instigator of the web site project and partnerships, Jacquelyn Murphy, Community Arts Officer East Brisbane City Council, and project manager of the web site and Simon Monsour, composer, vocalist, musician and producer who gave support and advice on the music component of the web site.

The web team: Teresa Jordan, illustrator, artist and web designer who created the illustrations and graphic designs for the web site, Armaghan Hoveydai, Innovative Internet Solutions, web development and Robert Whyte, ToadShow, webmaster.
