Chinese Connection - 2004

"Living in Brisbane - the Chinese connection" was a community mapping project which began in November 1998, and was auspiced by the Brisbane City Council.

At a grassroots community level, the project was aimed at galvanising interest and pride of peoples' everyday contributions to our city.

This project generated a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of the long-standing connections between our Chinese communities and Brisbane's broader population.

The reference group supporting much of the work undertaken by Brisbane City Council has connections with the broader community that spread like the roots of a tree. This interconnecting network of people has enriched the web page content and brought forward key participants who have worked on the projects, including: Leonie Leong, Leonard Yow, Irene Chou, Sam Ho, Helen Yun, Dr Kee Cheung, Susie Goh, Dennis Lim, Brigid Low, Patrick Goh, Peter Low, Chek Ling, Councillor Kevin Bianchi, Councillor Gail MacPherson.

Concept: Sheryl Anderson, Brisbane City Council

Coordinator & Oral historian: Lesley Jenkins & Associates for Brisbane City Council

Curator, Chinese stories: Judith Wassell, Queensland Museum

Web Page Designers: Amy Lee and the team at ToadShow
Scott, Paul, Tracey, Sharon, Rick, Rob and Damien
