| The
project team would like to thank the caravan park residents who shared their
stories and their hearts with us, who welcomed us into their homes and helped
us to see into their lives. We thank them for their honesty and for what
they have taught us about dignity. Wed like to thank the children
of the caravan park who played with us, who followed us around and yet led
us on a journey through their neighbourhood.
Caravan Site was commissioned by Community Development Team East, Brisbane
City Council in collaboration with the Society of St Vincent De Paul.
It followed an oral history project, Moving Stories, undertaken by the
Society of St Vincent De Paul with a local cultural and Festivals grant
from the Brisbane City Council.
The Moving Stories oral history project was conducted by Sue Pechey. Sues
work provided the foundation for this project and extracts from some of
the stories she collected have been used in this site.
The Caravan Site project team consisted of:
|

We
wish to thank our colleagues at Community Development Team East for their
interest and encouragement along the somewhat crooked creative journey
that was this project.
A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Vincent Van and the
Ed Shed, all of whom helped to welcome us into the caravan park community.
Permission to reprint excerpts from Van Sweet Van At Home in a Caravan Park (1994 Icy Tea) was generously given by committee members of the now defunct Icy Tea and Social Change Media.
Thanks also to Powerup for their sponsorship of the project and helping
to get Vincent Van and the Ed Shed on line for this project.
